HI, I’M MELISSA!

I spent nearly 30 years working in early childhood education and nonprofit agencies. I loved my work deeply, and I burned myself out because of it, more than once. Twice I landed in the emergency room.
I didn't recognize the signs. I didn't know how to stop. And I definitely didn't believe that taking care of myself was part of taking care of the people I served.
I know better now. And this course is how I share what I've learned.
I have a B.A. in Psychology, a Master of Education, and I'm an Associate Certified Coach with a Health and Wellness Certification. I've trained and coached hundreds of helping professionals across early childhood education, social work, and Head Start programs. I also walked the Camino de Santiago, which taught me more about resilience and rest than any book ever did.
I'm not here as a guru. I'm here as someone who's been where you are, and found a way through. You can too.

This is the science piece, and it will change how you think about stress. You'll learn what the stress cycle actually is, why helping professionals get stuck in it more than almost anyone, and the specific strategies that help you complete it so your body can return to rest.
